bed wetting

hi jenni,
my son is 10 years and 10 months old but all of a sudden starting a couple of weeks ago he satred to bed wet and its twice a week,
I thought maybe there wet dreams but he is too young and he is saying they are scary dreams of someone chasing him or him sitting on a loo seat and urinating.
What could I do to improve his his situation?

Actually he isn’t too young for it to be wet dreams as many children now enter puberty at a much younger age than previous generations. However if he is having the dreams that he mentions then I would hazard a guess that there might be something troubling him. See if you can get him to open up about that. It could be something wrong with a friend. There could be a situation at home that he is uncomfortable about. Also if he is getting ready to go to secondary school that might be weighing on his mind. I know that my son was slightly unsettled at this age. Let him know that you are there for him and will help in any way that you can. See if you can get him to open up and if you can’t then you might want to consider having him talk to someone else. Good luck!
